Remove Planning Bill Support for LNG and Reinstate the Moratorium

Step One Select your constituency

24 hours to drive home our demands to stop LNG!

Tomorrow (Wednesday), when the Planning Bill returns to the Dáil for the final time, the Government is proposing amendments that designate floating LNG as strategic.

This is a complete contradiction of Government policy that Ireland should not allow commercial LNG, as well as Minister Ryan’s public doubts over whether state-controlled LNG makes any sense as an emergency gas reserve.

Something is fundamentally wrong when the Government says it doesn’t support LNG yet is pushing amendments to facilitate it.

Between Shannon LNG’s High Court victory and the Government’s last-minute amendments to the Planning Bill, right now it looks like the Government is only listening to the fossil fuel promoters?

This Wednesday the Government must strip out the amendments to the Planning Bill that designate LNG as strategic. We want you to give one final message that its amendments to the Planning Bill supporting floating LNG are unacceptable.

Will you take our e-action today, and demand the Government implement its agreed moratorium on LNG and its opposition to importing fracked gas?

We’ve set out these steps in detail in a prepared message below.
