Our International Network

Friends of the Earth International is the world’s largest grassroots environmental justice federation, comprised of more than 70 autonomous national member groups who have shared values and commitment to tackling the root causes of today’s most pressing environmental and social justice issues. When we receive a call for international action from one of our sister organisations, we share this with our Irish network of international solidarity supporters to harness people power to rapidly put a spotlight on these issues.

International Solidarity

In response to the concerning global political context in which defenders of territories and peoples' rights are experiencing increased attacks on their sovereignty and systematic violations of their rights - our international network established a solidarity system - which enables us to rapidly take action and provide support to both prevent and respond to emergency situations faced by environmental human rights defenders, their families, communities, and movements - according to their needs and wishes.

Defenders of territories and environmental human rights defenders play a vital role in protecting their lands, communities and livelihoods as well as our climate. However in doing so, they are often faced with abuse, threats and harassment for their relentless determination to tackle climate change, pollution and nature loss. You can show active solidarity with them by taking our international solidarity pledge here.
