Host a Cuppa for Climate

Gather, chat and chip-in for climate action! A coffee morning with a difference - in aid of Friends of the Earth's work on climate

Cuppa for Climate is a chance for you to get a group of people together to talk about the climate crisis and explore positive actions for change in a friendly and informal way - while supporting the work of Friends of the Earth. Planning and hosting a Cuppa for Climate is simple, and there is no need to be an expert on climate to take part.

If you’d like to host a Cuppa for Climate in your community, simply fill out the form below and we will email you our handy toolkit and help you get started!

The Cuppa for Climate Toolkit has everything you need to run your Cuppa for Climate, you can download and print the materials needed from the email we send you on completing the form above. If you have any issues please email info@foe.ie and we will assist.

Community Fundraising

Community fundraising, where you take on a challenge or host an event like this and invite your friends to donate to a cause you care about, is a really valuable way of contributing to climate action.

Of course, not everyone is in a position to donate - and that’s ok. There are many different ways to be a climate activist and support the climate movement. But we know that lots of people can and are willing to donate, if asked. So, it’s always worth asking!

Once you’ve completed the form above, we will send you a link to our iDonate page where you can set up your own online fundraiser to share with your friends and family.
You can still host a Cuppa for Climate even if you don’t want to or can’t fundraise! And don’t forget, we’re here to help - you can reach us at info@foe.ie for support.

You may have attempted talking about climate change with friends and family before, and perhaps it didn’t go so well. Don’t let that stop you from trying again - take a different approach this time!

Climate Conversations are an effective way of taking action on climate. They create much needed space with our friends and families to express how we’re feeling about the climate crisis, talk about the solutions and explore pathways into action.

A 2022 EPA report ‘Climate Change’s Four Irelands: An Audience Segmentation Analysis’ identified four distinct audiences based on views about climate change, in terms of their knowledge, worry and willingness to take action. The report placed people in four categories: 36% as alarmed, 48% as worried, 12% as cautious and 3% as doubtful.

An EPA opinion poll in 2021 found that “90% of people believe Ireland has a national responsibility to act on climate change”.

As you can see, the evidence is clear - the vast majority of people in Ireland are aware, informed and concerned and they want change. But still - the level of action is not sufficient in meeting the scale of the problem facing us. Climate Conversations can bridge this gap, it’s an effective way in mobilising more people into action and thus increasing the pressure on decision makers to enforce the changes necessary.

Climate Conversations are a vital ingredient in a sustainable and resilient movement for change! So, sign up and join the conversation!

And remember - if you're planning to host a cuppa for climate we'd love to hear about it - email  to let us know about it. Your story could help inspire lots of others into action too!
