We're sorry ...

This event is over and booking is closed.

We’re trying something different, we want to bring a small group together re-write the lyrics of some well known carols/ songs, to rehearse them together in person, and then to come out to perform them together on the streets of Dublin for the Global Day of Action on 9th December.

COP28 is due to be held in Dubai this year - one of the largest oil producing countries in the world. We know that successive climate summits have not delivered the ambition or equity necessary to tackle the scale of the climate crisis. There’s no more time for false solutions we need global leaders to take real action and we also need to move towards a fossil free future.

On the 9th of December people around the world will be mobilising on the streets as part of the global day of action to have their voices heard. We are planning a ‘Climate Carolling’ street performance in Dublin so we can really make our voices heard on the issues we care about.

Once you sign up you will receive an email with the relevant song lyrics that the group have re-written from the first session along with some audio recordings foreach of the songs we will be singing so you can start practicing at home. Our next rehearsal is planned for the 2nd of December from 2:30 - 4:30pm in the Carmelite Community Centre in Dublin - come along and join us!

We’ve teamed up with Rachel Dempsey of Full Circle Change for the song writing workshop and to lead our climate choir to perform in Dublin city centre on December 9th! Rachel is a singer, facilitator, ethnomusicologist and eco-activist and is passionate about the power of singing to change the world.

We hope that by engaging in creative forms of activism like this might help to replenish our collective energy so we can continue with the struggle for climate and social justice. We also hope that a street spectacle like this might raise the interest of people walking by who haven’t been so concerned about climate justice yet. We know that to achieve the environmental and social change that’s needed - we need everyone.

This workshop is the first of a few sessions:

  1. Oct 28th - lyric re-writing workshop - Carmelite Community Centre in Dublin from 2 - 4:30pm
  2. Nov 11th - In-person rehearsal - Carmelite Community Centre in Dublin from 2:30 - 4:30pm
  3. Dec 2nd - In-person rehearsal - Carmelite Community Centre in Dublin from 2:30 - 4:30pm
  4. Dec 9th - Street performance - Dublin (location to be revealed) - 4 - 6pm

You don’t have to be a great singer to join us in this Climate Carolling Street Performance all you need is to care about climate justice, want to spread the need for urgent climate action and be up for having a bit of a laugh!
