This series seeks to creates space to deepen our understanding of the systems driving the climate crisis and to explore pathways towards a fairer, more sustainable future.

Feminism, Degrowth and System Change

What does feminism have to do with climate change? And why are more people calling for degrowth?

The climate crisis is not happening in isolation. It is rooted in an economic system that prioritises endless growth, corporate profit and the interests of a wealthy few over the wellbeing of people and the planet. As environmental and social crises deepen, there is growing recognition that we cannot solve these challenges without questioning the systems that created them.

What:

This introductory webinar explores the connections between feminism, degrowth and climate justice. Together, we'll examine why an economic model based on perpetual growth is incompatible with a finite planet, and how it contributes to widening inequality, ecological breakdown and the concentration of wealth and power.

We'll also explore how capitalism, imperialism and patriarchy are interconnected systems that shape whose work is valued, whose voices are heard, and who bears the greatest impacts of climate and economic crises.

Whether you're new to these ideas or looking to deepen your understanding, this session will provide an accessible introduction to key concepts and invite discussion about what a more caring, democratic and regenerative society could look like—and how these ideas can strengthen our work for climate justice and system change.
