Can we heat our homes without heating the planet? As Ireland looks for ways to move away from fossil fuels for home heating, a growing number of alternative fuels are being presented as climate-friendly solutions—from hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) to biomethane and other so-called renewable fuels. But how sustainable are these alternatives really? And what do we need to know about their climate impacts, environmental costs and potential to deliver a genuinely fair transition away from fossil fuel heating?

Join us for this webinar with Clare O'Connor, who will share key findings from a new report examining the claims being made about alternative heating fuels. We’ll look beyond the green labels to explore what these fuels mean for climate action, land and resources, and our wider energy system—and ask what a truly sustainable approach to heating our homes could look like.
