From Duty to Action: Using Public Sector Duty to Engage with Local Climate Action Plans

This interactive workshop is designed for anyone that identifies as an older person who already has some basic grounding in civic participation and the Irish political system and wants to build their confidence in engaging with climate decision-making processes. 

Together, we will demystify how climate decisions are made in Ireland, explore the role and powers of local government in addressing climate issues, and examine how Public Sector Duty can be used as a practical accountability tool to advance climate action. 

Participants will engage with Local Climate Action Plans to identify key opportunities and barriers for older people in the community, and develop concrete next steps for engagement, advocacy, and accountability.

When: Tuesday, August 11

• 9:30 am arrivals and tea/ coffee
• 10am start
• Lunch (vegan/ vegetarian) will be provided for all participants
• Finishing at 2pm

Where: The North Room, MACRO Community Resource Centre, 1 Green Street, Dublin 7.

*We will be providing a light lunch during the workshop for all participants that will be vegan and vegetarian. You can include any additional allergies/ preferences in the registration form above.

** I will do my best to try to support those who require support with travel to participate in the workshop - either pairing people up who might be able to offer a lift, or covering travel expenses if this would otherwise be a barrier for your participation.
