It's time to end the fossil fuel era
Our No New Gas campaign is focused on preventing fossil-gas lock in. We’re campaigning to stop the Government making decisions and investments now that would keep Ireland dependent on fossil gas (sometimes called “natural gas” by industry) for years to come.
Gas infrastructure built today (such as an Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import terminals or gas fuelled power stations) would need to be used for decades if an economic return on their investment is achieved. But our climate can’t afford this. In fact, we can’t afford to invest in any new fossil fuel projects if we’re to limit global heating to 1.5 degrees celsius, the absolute red line for climate breakdown. Every new fossil fuel project must be resisted - we need a huge, people powered movement to do this. Alone we are small, but together we can be powerful!
