Keep Ireland LNG free

Step One Select your constituency

Let’s send a strong, unified message to the Government to keep Ireland LNG free. Take our e-action to urge your TDs to vote against the LNG Bill.

Amid heightened geopolitical instability, soaring energy costs and worsening extreme weather, the Government is rushing through legislation which will allow a new polluting gas (liquefied natural gas) terminal in Clare. This means inconceivable harm and pollution for communities in Clare—and beyond.

We cannot allow LNG to wreak havoc on our beautiful island.

At a time when the Government should be pulling out all the stops to end our dependence on fossil fuels - the very reason why all of us are grappling with high energy bills - they’re pushing for (new) dirty, expensive fossil fuel infrastructure.

We cannot afford to have a polluting gas terminal at our doorstep that would lock Ireland into further fossil fuel dependence, increasing exposure to volatile global LNG markets, including US fracked gas. Ordinary people are already paying the price for our Government’s failure to end our reliance on imported oil and gas.

Besides, Ireland banned fracking nearly a decade ago for its severe impact on health and the environment. How can the Government now be pushing to bring in fracked gas through the back door via this Bill?

What Ireland needs is real energy independence, powered by homegrown renewables, which will keep our bills low, and our environment and communities safe.

In just a few clicks, urge your TD to vote against the Bill in the Dáil – and help build the people power needed to keep Ireland LNG free.
