Energy bills are rising again.

We’ve been here before, and nothing was fixed. Each crisis, the response is the same - temporary fixes that leave households exposed at the next shock.

Ireland still relies on oil and gas to heat our homes. That leaves us exposed to global conflicts and instability. Time and time again, it’s Irish households who are left to pay the price. 

If this crisis feels like déjà vu, it’s because it is. 

In 2022, almost 1 in 3 households in Ireland fell into energy poverty and struggled to keep their homes warm. Now it’s happening again.

Families can’t afford to fill their empty oil tanks. People are falling behind on bills and living in cold homes - and it’s taking a serious toll.

This is not just bad luck, it is a result of political choices.

The Irish Government has failed to fix a broken energy system that keeps leaving households exposed to global shocks.

Ireland needs clean, homegrown energy and warm homes - so families are not at the mercy of global price volatility and can afford to heat their homes.

We are calling on the Government to:

• Protect households now with targeted supports so no one is left in a cold home, unable to afford their energy bills
• Make energy bills fair and affordable, ensuring people come first in our energy system.
• Invest in warm homes and renewable energy to end our dependence on oil and gas and protect people from future price shocks
• Refuse to expand fossil fuel infrastructure like LNG, which will only lock households into endless high and volatile costs.
